At 4:59pm, Monday, April 1st (no joke) Entergy released their proposed IRP Implementation Plan. With the New Orleans City Council preparing to vote on a 20 year plan for New Orleans’ energy future, this document will be at the center of the upcoming policy debate.
A few very encouraging items include significant enhancements to the Energy Smart programs – improvements that should result in deeper levels of financial savings for both homes and businesses who take advantage of energy efficiency rebates.
Still disappointing is the low level of overall investment in energy efficiency, leaving ratepayers exposed to far more expensive power plant construction projects in the future.
