The LPSC Business and Executive meeting held in Baton Rouge this past Wednesday began with the election of new chairs. Eric Skrmetta was selected as Chair and Clyde Holloway was selected as Vice Chair. Skrmetta, who is the representative to ERSC and MISO, announced that MISO will be joining the Regional Transmission Organization.
The agenda did not reflect some of the prominent debates in our state. Net metering was pulled from February’s agenda and was moved to March. Also missing on this month’s agenda, the Renewable Portfolio Standard and CLECO Renewable Energy Procurement.
On a national scale, the EPA’s request for rehearing was denied. Last August, a D.C. circuit court ruled against the EPA’s new regulations on Cross-State Air Pollution Rule (CSAPR). Now the EPA now has the option to take the matter to the Supreme Court or reinitiate rule making.
